D.A.V.I.D. is an AI video director that runs inside your own Claude, on your own computer. It finds the best moments, adds captions, your logo and your style, and hands you videos ready to post. You film it. DAVID directs it.
- A paid Claude planPro ($20 a month) or Max. Free Claude doesn't include Claude Code, which runs D.A.V.I.D.
- A Mac or Windows PCMac with Apple Silicon is best. Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. About 50 GB free.
- A 15-second selfie videoFilm it before you start: "Hi Benny, this is my first D.A.V.I.D. video. Thank you!"
- About 45 minutesOnce. Mostly downloads. You click buttons; Claude does the rest.

Open Claude
Open the Claude desktop app (get it at claude.ai/download) and sign in. Click Code and start a new session. Any folder is fine.

Paste this prompt
Copy the prompt below and paste it into Claude. It downloads D.A.V.I.D. and starts setting you up.

Click and answer
When Claude asks to run something, click Allow. Answer its questions with the buttons. On a Mac, Apple asks for your password once or twice; on a PC there are no pop-ups.
Set me up with D.A.V.I.D., the free video director from daviddirector.com. Download https://daviddirector.com/beta/download/david-beta.zip into a new folder called "DAVID Setup" in my home folder and unzip it there. Then read app/docs/Setup Guide.md in that folder and follow it step by step. Ask me every choice with buttons.
Your first video: a thank-you to Benny
At the end of setup, D.A.V.I.D. turns your selfie clip ("Hi Benny, this is my first D.A.V.I.D. video. Thank you!") into a finished 15-second video with your brand, then helps you send it to Benny. That's how we know it worked.
Every time after that
Open Claude, click Code, choose your D.A.V.I.D. Studio folder, and say what you want: "Make a 30-second video from the Smith job footage." Finished videos are in its 06 Ready to Post folder.
