Beta help
Stuck? Ask D.A.V.I.D. to fix it.
D.A.V.I.D. can check your computer and fix most problems itself. Open Claude, click Code, and paste the prompt that fits. Pick your computer first.
Something isn't working
D.A.V.I.D. isn't working right. Run python3 ~/"DAVID Work/app/david.py" check, tell me in plain words what's wrong, and fix it. If setup needs to run again, follow ~/DAVID Setup/app/docs/Setup Guide.md.
Setup stopped partway
Continue my D.A.V.I.D. setup. Read ~/DAVID Setup/app/docs/Setup Guide.md, run the setup step again (it picks up where it stopped) and keep going. Ask me every choice with buttons.
Where's my video?
Where are my finished D.A.V.I.D. videos? Run python3 ~/"DAVID Work/app/david.py" status and open my Ready to Post folder for me.
Update, or go back
Update D.A.V.I.D.: run python3 ~/"DAVID Work/app/david.py" update and tell me what's new. If something breaks afterwards, run the same command with go-back instead of update.

Common questions
Claude says Code isn't available
Claude Code comes with the paid Claude plans (Pro at $20 a month, or Max). Upgrade in the Claude app's settings, then open Code again.
Mac: an Apple window asks to install "developer tools"
That's expected. Click Install, then Agree, and wait until it says the software was installed (5 to 15 minutes). Then tell Claude: continue setup.
Mac: the Homebrew installer asks for my password
That's your normal Mac login password. Homebrew is the free tool that installs the video software. Type it, finish the installer, then tell Claude: continue setup.
Windows: setup is taking a long time
It downloads about 750 MB (video tools and the speech-to-text model). On a normal connection that's 10 to 30 minutes. It only happens once.
Claude keeps asking me to Allow things
Claude asks before it runs anything on your computer. For D.A.V.I.D. it's fine to click Allow, or Always allow so it stops asking.
It says I'm low on disk space
D.A.V.I.D. needs at least 20 GB free (50 GB is comfortable). Ask Claude: "clean up old D.A.V.I.D. renders". It shows you what it would delete first and never touches your footage.
The captions misspell a name
Tell D.A.V.I.D. the right spelling and say "always use this spelling". It fixes the video and remembers for next time.
I want a different opening or ending
Say "show me new endings" (or openings). D.A.V.I.D. makes three new designs from your brand and opens your Style Board so you can pick.
How do I get videos off my phone?
iPhone on a Mac: they're in the Photos app if iCloud Photos is on, or plug in and use Image Capture. Windows: plug in the phone and use the Photos app's Import. Android: Google Photos, or plug in and copy the DCIM folder. Then tell D.A.V.I.D. where they are.
Does Benny see my videos?
No. Your footage and videos stay on your computer or your own cloud. Benny only sees what you choose to send him, like your first-video thank-you clip, plus simple counts if you said yes: that D.A.V.I.D. is installed, the total size of the footage it found, and how many videos you make. Never your videos, file names or anything in them. To stop the counts, tell Claude: "turn off the D.A.V.I.D. video counter". Separately, each time it starts, D.A.V.I.D. checks for updates and that your free beta is active (your tester code and version only).
How long is the beta free?
Free while we test it. If that ever changes, D.A.V.I.D. tells you first, and nothing you made is ever deleted. Ask any time: "check my D.A.V.I.D. license".
